Campus-Based Positions
As part of Washington University in St. Louis, Brown School master's-level students have access to a variety of campus-based fellowships, research assistantships and other part-time jobs.
Across campus, Brown School students are sought after for fellowships in Residential Life, Student Involvement, the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, the Gephardt Institute for Civic & Community Engagement, and so on.
In addition, some Brown School faculty will hire student research assistants in the spring (others will wait until the late-summer and early-fall to offer these positions). Those research assistantships will be posted here as they come available, as well as other part-time positions within the Brown School.
Note: New positions will become available throughout the fall and spring semesters. Additionally, the list of opportunities on this page is not fully exhaustive; other positions may come available to students during their time at the Brown School.

Research & Office Assistant - Professor Vetta Sanders Thompson
Research and office assistant to assist with literature reviews, annotated bibliographies for manuscripts, presentations, and other professional activities. The individual will also be responsible for editing slides, formatting manuscripts for submission, and other related tasks as needed. Assistance with qualitative data management, coding, as well data entry expected as needed. Position available from August 20, 2023 through May 31, 2024. Research Assistant – Harvey A Friedman Center for Aging
The
Harvey A. Friedman Center for Aging at the Institute for Public Health is offering a research assistant/work study position to an incoming graduate student. Applicants do not need to have prior experience in aging or research, but must have an interest in exploring issues relevant for older adults and aging societies and a desire to learn about and conduct research. Health Promotion Assistant (several positions available) – Habif Health & Wellness Center
This position is open to graduate students eligible to earn direct pay, Federal Work Study, or academic credit Fall 2023-Spring 2024. Preferred qualifications include: excellent organizational skills; superior writing, editing, and verbal communication skills; experience with graphic design; comfort with health promotion subjects; flexibility, humor, and ability to interact professionally with students and staff. Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement (several positions available)
The Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community
Engagement has various positions open for part-time work on campus
starting this fall. These roles provide opportunities for grad students
to take the lead on projects like developing and facilitating civic
engagement programming and assisting with planning and guiding community
immersion trips. The positions offer flexible hours, and while most
begin this fall, there are also positions available starting this
summer.

Library Desk Assistant – Brown School Library
The Brown School Library Desk Assistants support the daily operation of the Brown School Library. They work closely with Washington University students, faculty, and staff who use the various library services and resources. Desk Assistants answer questions from patrons both in person and over the phone. They perform basic circulation and collection maintenance tasks, and assist with special projects as assigned.
