Student Support
- Our holistic advising approach pairs each student with multiple advisors, so every student has the opportunity to create a community of staff and faculty actively engaged in your academic and professional success.
- The
Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion promotes dialogue, organizes programming, and develops student support resources that foster a more welcoming community.
-
Career Services builds connections for students to their professional careers. Attend a Career Community to meet with faculty, staff and community leaders in a particular area, or join for one of their skills-based workshops, such as resume-building and offer-negotiating. Staff also offer individualized support during their regular one-on-one advising hours.
- The
Office of Field Education and our Field Faculty guide students through the practicum process — from identifying a fitting practicum opportunity to making the most of your learning experience — via coordinated practicum fairs and personalized advising. See a practicum overview and resources for
MSW and
MPH students.
- The
Office of Financial Services provides guidance for funding your graduate degree, including support for navigating FAFSA, federal student loans and federal work-study. See financial aid resources for
MSW and
MPH students.
- The
StatLab, formed in direct response to student feedback, organizes a network of peer instructors to offer statistical and methodological support for your quantitative coursework.
- The
Communication Lab offers one-on-one advising for written and presentation projects.
-
Student groups connect students to leadership opportunities, programming, as well as advocacy and service opportunities. They’re a key part of our vibrant campus life.
- The
Brown School Library provides access to a large collection of social work and public health texts, as well as a broad online database.
- Our
Professional Development program offers workshops and trainings several times a month, helping students, alumni and professionals build new skills and stay in touch with advances in evidence-based practice.
