Application Instructions

The application for the Brown School’s Master of Public Health program is available here through SOPHAS – The Centralized Application Service for Public Health. You must designate your chosen MPH program under Washington University in St. Louis – Brown School Public Health Programs within the SOPHAS portal. Please review the following instructions carefully prior to beginning your application.

Please note: 3-2 MPH applicants should apply through SOPHAS Express. Applicants currently enrolled in another Washington University graduate program may also be eligible to apply through the SOPHAS Express application. Students can read more about the SOPHAS Express portal here.

It is very important to understand the SOPHAS application process before submitting your application. Please read the SOPHAS instructions and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and refer to them throughout the application process. It is your responsibility to monitor the status of your application in the SOPHAS portal.

Once your application becomes “Complete” in SOPHAS, it can take up to four weeks for the SOPHAS verification process to be completed. Please submit all materials well in advance of deadlines to allow for timely processing. Also note that additional documents may be required for your application to be considered “complete” for our review purposes. We will review your file once your SOPHAS application is verified and all of the following supporting documents have been received.

Click on each type of supporting document to learn more.

Applicants are required to demonstrate successful completion of a bachelor’s degree (or degree in-progress*) from a regionally accredited college or university.

SOPHAS requires that you submit official transcripts from each institution attended regardless of the number of courses/credits taken.

Transcripts must be submitted directly to SOPHAS. Please do not send transcripts to the Brown School during the initial application process.

SOPHAS has very specific transcript requirements – please review the instructions carefully and provide ample time for process and verification of transcripts.

*In-Progress transcripts: If you have not completed your bachelor’s degree at the time of application, please submit transcripts showing the work you have completed to date to SOPHAS. An admissions decision will be rendered, however any offer of admission is contingent upon successful completion of your degree. If admitted to the program, a final official transcript showing degree conferral must be sent to the Brown School directly by the issuing institution or its authorized agent.
