The Brown School is an intergral part of the community.

Through the
Alliance for Building Capacity (ABC), Brown taps the talent of faculty and students to help build the capacity of
St. Louis nonprofit organizations.  By providing a range of education, training, consultation, and networking opportunities, ABC helps area organizations more effectively serve their constituents.

The Brown School is home to the Richard A. Gephardt Institute for Public Service, a Washington University Institute created with a major gift from former U.S. Congressman Richard Gephardt. The Institute focuses attention on public service, its value and importance in advancing a civil society.  The Institute provides information about public service careers and highlights volunteer opportunities.  Through workshops, lectures, and conferences, the Institute also intends to provide information about both public service and significant public issues.

Brown also offer a wide variety of online resources, along with a regular lecture series that brings together important voices to discuss issues of social change. Open to the community, the series offers excellent networking opportunities.

The Brown School also offers many resources to assist current and prospective MSW field instructors.
