Dr. Kohl joined the Brown School from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she worked on the National Survey of Child and Adolescent Well-being. Throughout the course of her career, Dr. Kohl’s research and direct practice experience have addressed the linkage between child welfare and domestic violence, and safety from repeated neglect and abuse. At the Brown School she teaches social work practice with individuals, families and groups. She is also a faculty associate with the School’s Center for Mental Health Services Research.

At her faculty colloquium on November 17, 2008, Dr. Kohl presented her work which explores the need to intervene with the parents of children in the child welfare system to achieve better results for the child.
