Grandparents Raising Grandchildren: Ethnic and Household Differences in Health and Service Use
Released in 2009, this study aimed to compare the characteristics of grandparent caregivers from different ethnicities and household structures, and to explore the associations between these two factors and their health or the use of public income support programs. Completed as a thesis paper in the MSW Research Specialization.

The Impact of Land Tenure Privatization on Cooperation in Communal Farm Labor in Kenya
Establishing private property in land through registration and titling has been promoted in developing countries due to the anticipated benefits of private ownership in access to credit, productivity enhancing investments, and ultimately productivity gains. Evidence of such gains is limited, however. Completed in 2009, this study examines a related question: What is the impact of privatization on cooperation in farm labor? Completed as a thesis paper in the MSW Research Specialization.

Protein Consumption of Farmers Growing Only Cotton: A Case from Tajikistan
In 2004 cotton accounted for 17.3% of total export revenue, making a considerable impact on the overall economic growth of Tajikistan. However, farmers growing only cotton do not necessarily benefit from this growth. This study, released in 2009, analyzes protein consumption of farmers who grow only cotton and other farmers who are able to diversify their yield. Completed as a thesis paper in the MSW Research Specialization.
