About Us

The Center for Latino Family Research is devoted to research that extends our understanding in the health, social and economic conditions of Latinos in the U.S. and Latin America.

As a center that focuses on basic and applied social and behavioral science research, our scope includes examining immigration and acculturation; Latino youth, family, and community development; and the conditions faced by their families and friends in Latin America.  The Center’s research will provide a base of knowledge for developing effective programs that address some of the most pressing social, economic, and health issues that face Latinos both in the United States and in Latin America.

The Center’s mission is to:

  • Conduct basic and applied research across the life span of Latino families in the U. S., Mexico, the Caribbean, and Central and South America

  • Train graduate, pre-doctoral, post-doctoral and visiting research fellows from the U. S. and Latin America in research that improves the lives of Latino families.
