Bio:

Dr. Hovmand’s research focuses on how to implement and sustain innovations in human services and communities with applications in mental health, domestic violence, child welfare, health care, and natural resources.  To advance this research, he draws on methods from electrical engineering and computer science such as system dynamics computer modeling and simulation along with participatory methods such as group model building.  Other interests include feminist theory, philosophy of language and mathematics, and application of technology to social work. Dr. Hovmand teaches human diversity, designing sustainable policies and programs, organizational behavior and theory, and research methods.  He currently serves as the coordinator of the foundation curriculum, is member of the curriculum committee, and lead teacher for human diversity.  He also serves as the co-founder and chair of the diversity committee for the System Dynamics Society.
