Toward a Global Research Agenda on Civic Service: The NVSQ Special Issue Amanda Moore McBride and Michael Sherraden of the Center for Social Development at Washington University in St. Louis edited the December 2004 special issue of the Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly (NVSQ), which is the journal of the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations and Voluntary Action (ARNOVA). The journal issue, Toward a Global Research Agenda on Civic Service, was the compilation of papers delivered at CSD's 2002 international conference by the same hosted in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The volume assesses the history, status, and potential of civic service worldwide by leading scholars in civil society, voluntary action, and policy. Jayne Cravens of United Nations Volunteers had this to say about the special issue, "It's the best international resource relating to community service that I have read in a very, very long time." The journal issue is available from the NVSQ editors at http://www.spea.iupui.edu/nvsq/. Questions about the issue can be directed to gsi@wustl.edu.
