GSI
Information Network
Resource Partners
GSI network resource partners are organizations that have agreed to provide
information and/or support toward the development of the GSI Information Network.
Resource partners may house content on their own web site or may contribute
content to a web site maintained by another organization.
GSI will facilitate the
establishment of this network by identifying and soliciting resource partners
in countries around the world. GSI invites organizations interested in participating
in this network to contact us directly at gsi@wustl.edu.
Small grants may occasionally be available to develop web sites in supporting
particular topics or geographic regions.
The type of information
that resource partners may provide is broad. There will be diversity in geographic
representation; language; age of participants (from youth service to elder
service); research tools such as databases, bibliographies, and surveys; and
policy and program documents such as policy updates, program descriptions,
and program implementation guides. Resource partners may also provide language
translations, conference/calendar updates, or interactive communication tools.
Resource Partner benefits
include:
- Becoming a member of
an active international network on civic service.
- Taking a leading role
in world discussion on service.
- Gaining worldwide recognition
for your contributions to the knowledge-building and information on civic
service.
- Being included in a
searchable web network database.
- Possibly receiving
small funding grants for web site development.
A primary benefit of this web network will be the ability for web users to
perform searches within the civic service network to obtain specific information
on civic service around the world based on the partnering organizations listed
in the GSI Resource Database. All partnering web sites will be included in
this search function.
The GSI web network search
function allows a user to enter a value in the "Search GSI" box
and retrieve "hits" of web sites that are relevant to the entered
value. By participating in the GSI web network, an organization's web site
is included in the GSI Resource Database. The GSI search function will query
the Resource Database to find the web sites that are relevant to the user's
request. The GSI search function is located at CSD's "Search" web
page.
Web network partners may
also use this search function on their web site. A special GSI Network logo
has been created that provides the search function and the following menu
functions:
