The GSI information network is comprised of organizations around the globe that are committed to the concept of civic service. These network resource partners participate in collecting, maintaining and distributing information about civic service and are seamlessly linked to create a virtual "institution without walls."
We invite your comments about the definition of civic service, defined as: "an organized period of substantial engagement and contribution to the local, national, or world community, recognized and valued by society, with minimal (or no) monetary compensation to the participant." (Sherraden, 2001)
