Opportunities for MSW and MPH Students

The public health and social work research centers at the Brown School often hire students in part-time research assistant (RA) positions.

Below are some examples of recent RA positions and job responsibilities.

If you have been admitted as an MSW or MPH student, you can view current openings on our Admitted Student Bulletin Board.  If you are a current student, you can view job openings on Symplicity, the online system used by our Office of Career Services, which is accessible through our secured intranet called Inside Brown.  You will receive access to Inside Brown once we receive your tuition deposit.

The Center for Mental Health Services Research has offered RA opportunities for students. Students have taken on general administrative responsibilities, provided office support, assisted with data collection, proofread and edit qualitative interviews, maintain project records, and assist with the Bibliography Project utilizing library and internet search skills.

The Center for Social Development has hired students to assist with asset building research, including data collection and reporting.

The Center for Tobacco Policy Research has hired student RAs to assist with the User Guide Project to identify interventions and provide implementation guidance, the Tobacco Prevention and Cessation Initiative, and an evaluation project for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention National Network Consortium.

The Health Communication Research Laboratory offers graduate students opportunities to help with data collection, screening participants, and providing assistance on study related materials for two pilot studies on racial disparities in colon cancer news articles.  Previously, student positions were offered to assist with collecting and evaluating data, statistical analysis, developing health communication tools and resources, managing an EndNote database, tracking health coverage in media, writing and reporting.
