“I was originally planning on being a doctor. I attended a sexual assault survivor event known as “Take Back the Night,” which truly changed my career path. I realized that something had to be done to correct such social injustice. I wanted to help people on both an individual and an institutional level.

“Social awareness around issues of sexual orientation and gender identity are important to me. Equal protection and civil rights under the law for the LGBT community is my priority as is helping those who cannot achieve this due to social ignorance and intolerance.

“I chose the Brown School for its location. Being in a city with a variety of needs provides access to opportunities for practicum, volunteer work, and jobs. I knew that the Brown School would be able to help me develop skills in community organizing and social change.”
