Her fellowship with the One Campaign in Washington
D.C. following her undergraduate studies gave Rosie
experience in global poverty advocacy. She knew she
wanted to work in community development, but needed to
learn the analytical skills necessary for a leadership role.

“I want to engage corporations and get them to invest
in lower income areas and offer job opportunities that
meet the skill sets in the community. I knew the Brown
School would give me an understanding of the social
and economic issues needed to help a community to
reach its full potential.”

While at the Brown School, Rosie worked on a public
transit advocacy campaign that had previously failed.
Its success during this campaign was due largely to the
collaboration of schools, faith-based leaders, hospitals,
labor unions, and the university working together to
leverage individual strengths and resources to impact
the community.
