About St. Louis

With the region’s low cost of living, St.Louis is one of the best bets for both lifestyle and graduate social work education. From recreation to cultural offerings and from fine dining to volunteer work, our students and faculty take advantage of the metropolitan area in many ways.

The Brown School is located on Washington University’s Danforth Campus. The campus is surrounded by Forest Park, a 1,300 acre public park. Larger than New York’s Central Park, Forest Park is home to the St. Louis Zoo, the St. Louis Art Museum, the Missouri History Museum, the Science Center and many other free attractions. Students use the park year-round to jog, bike, golf, skate, and play tennis.

Our campus is close to the city’s Central West End, which comprises large, turn-of-the-century homes, apartments, art galleries, music clubs, unusual shops, and ethnic restaurants. We’re also near the University City Loop, an eclectic shopping and residential district, which is a frequent gathering place for students.

If you have not had an opportunity to visit St. Louis or our School, please do so. Contact the admissions office at (314) 935-6676 to inquire about travel vouchers.
