Bio:

Dr. Peña’s research interests include suicide prevention, HIV prevention, adolescence, Latinos, and acculturation.

Before earning his Ph.D. at Columbia University in New York, Dr. Peña’s practice experience included serving families and children in various setting including prevention programs, drug clinics, schools, and mental health clinics.

Dr. Peña joined the Brown School in 2007 as an assistant professor after completing a post doctoral fellowship at the University of Rochester.

He serves as a faculty research fellow for the School’s Center for Latino Family and is on the faculty of the Center for Mental Health Services Research. He is a member of the National Hispanic Science Network on Drug Abuse, the Prevention Science Methodology Group, and the Society for Prevention Research.

Dr. Peña’s work can be read in a number of publications including the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology and the American Journal of Public Health. He has presented and lectured on several topics across America.
