A recipient of the Brown School’s Excellence in Teaching Award, Anna is passionate about issues related to privilege and oppression and their interplay with politics and policy.

As a senior lecturer, Anna teaches graduate level Social Work Theory and Practice classes in both the Foundations and Social and Economic Development Concentration tracks, including Social Welfare Policies and Services, Social Justice and Human Diversity, Social, Economic, and Political Environment, Training in Intergroup Dialogue, Organizing, Lobbying and Coalition Building and Social Justice: Exploring America’s Promise. She is the lead teacher for the Social Justice and Human Diversity course and coordinates the Self-Awareness for Culturally Competent Practice workshop that is required for all incoming Brown School’s MSW and MPH students.
 
As a former practicing attorney, Anna oversees the school’s joint JD/MSW program and serves as a faculty advisor for both MSW students and joint JD/MSW students.
 
Anna is also an independent diversity consultant in the St. Louis area, having designed and facilitated workshops for many notable clients including St. Louis Community College, Rockwood School District, National Conference on Community and Justice (NCCJ), and the Olin School of Business. Anna frequently presents at local and national conferences and has been an invited speaker at White Privilege Conference since 2008.
 
Anna earned her Master of Social Work from Washington University's Brown School and her Juris Doctor from Washington University School of Law. She holds her Bachelor of Arts in English, with a minor in American History, from Indiana University—Bloomington. Prior to joining Brown, Anna practiced law in St. Louis for ten years.
