Study is organized around students' individual interests, which are developed into an area of specialization. Areas of specialization have addressed fields such as poverty alleviation, community development, gerontology, child welfare, health, and mental health.
We are mindful of the knowledge and skills required of social work scholars in the 21st century. We ensure that our students are prepared for scholarly careers, including substantive knowledge, theoretical clarity, research and data analysis, proposal writing, paper writing, and teaching.
We are one of the few programs which offer practica in teaching and research. Increasing numbers of our students publish in professional journals, present at national conferences, and submit research proposals to external funders. They enter the academic job market with competitive track records.
