International Students

The Brown School is proud to have the largest number of international students of any school of social work in the United States.

In addition to the general requirements for admission, international students must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum TOEFL score of 575. Exceptions are made for students whose primary language is English, or students who have studied in the United States.

  • Proof of financial funds to cover educational and living expenses for academic year. Students need to show proof of tuition fee and annual expenses in U.S. dollars by completing a financial affidavit.

We consider all international students for scholarships if they check the scholarship interest box on the application form. There is no separate form required to apply for scholarship. The Brown School does not provide tuition waivers or graduate teaching assistantship.
